Homestays in the hills

Uttarakhand has run a state homestay scheme since 2015, now the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Graha Awas (Homestay) Scheme, with more than 5,000 registered homestays. In 2026 the state revised the rules: a homestay can now register up to 8 rooms and 24 beds (up from 6 rooms), registration lasts five years with online self-renewal, and village groups can apply as community tourism units (ETV Bharat, May 2026). Check the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board for current fees and forms.

Bookings here come from regular guests by phone, yoga schools and travel agents, and booking sites. An 8-room homestay sits within InnRow's Hotel plan; up to 6 rooms fits the Homestay plan.

What hosts here use InnRow for

  • One calendar for direct, agent and booking-site reservations
  • Foreign yoga students and trekkers: Form C reminders and passport photos with the booking

  • A digital guest register
