How we write and check our guides

InnRow Editorial is the team that builds InnRow and writes its guides. Every guide puts the rule or number first, links the primary source it comes from, shows the date it was last checked, and gets a reply within two working days when a reader reports an error.

Updated

Who writes the guides

The guides, comparisons, templates and help pages on innrow.com are written by the people who build and support InnRow, which began as the booking desk of a working family homestay and villa. We publish them as InnRow Editorial rather than under personal names. When an outside professional, such as a chartered accountant, has reviewed a guide, that reviewer is named on the guide.

Where the facts come from

We use sources in this order, and link the one we used next to the fact:

  1. The rule itself. CBIC notifications for GST, the Bureau of Immigration and e-FRRO for Form C, and state tourism department guidelines for registration.
  2. Official pages of the company involved. Booking-site help centres for calendar sync, and each software vendor's own pricing page for comparisons.
  3. Named news reports, only when a rule has been announced but not yet published in full. We say so in the text and give the date of the report.

Where an official notification is hard to reach online, we may cite a named legal or compliance summary of it, and we say so next to the fact. We don't use other booking-software companies' blogs as the source for a tax or legal rule.

How we check

  • Every rate, fee, limit and price is checked against its source before a page goes up, and again at each review.
  • The "Updated" date on a page changes only when its content changes, not when we fix a typo or change the site's design.
  • Worked examples, such as GST on a room, are recalculated whenever the rate behind them changes.

How often pages are reviewed

PagesReviewed
GST, Form C, guest register and state registration guidesWhen the rule changes, and at least every six months
Comparisons and competitor pricesAt least every three months; the date we read each vendor's page is shown on the comparison
Calendar sync help for each booking siteWhen a booking site changes its menus, and at least every six months
Features and pricingWhenever the product or a price changes

How we compare InnRow with other tools

We make InnRow, so our comparisons can't be neutral, but they can be fair. We use each vendor's own published price. Where a vendor only quotes on request, we say so, and where we fall back on a review site's listing, we name it. Every comparison says when the other tool is the better fit. There are no affiliate links. If you work for a vendor we compare and something is wrong, write to us and we will fix it.

General information, not advice

Our guides explain rules in plain words. They are not legal or tax advice and don't replace the official forms or a professional who knows your situation. For your own GST position, speak to a chartered accountant.

Corrections

Found a mistake? Email [email protected] with the page address and what is wrong. We reply within two working days. If a correction changes a number or a rule, we update the page date and say what changed.
